Growing Up in Science - Past Events
Growing Up In Science: A conversation with Michael Hove
Speaker: Dr. Michael Hove
When: Wed. May 10, 2023 at 4pm (NOTE TIME CHANGE)
Where: By zoom ONLY
We are excited to host Dr. Michael Hove in our Growing Up In Science series of conversations. In this series we welcome our guests’ unofficial stories; not just the big successes, but also the many adversities that we all inevitably face. We talk about the joys and also the struggles, regrets, the challenges of work-life balance, and whatever else comes up. The audience is warmly invited to join the conversation.
Dr. Hove is an Associate Professor of Psychology at Fitchburg State University in Massachusetts, and a Fulbright scholar at McGill during Spring 2023. He studies rhythm and timing using a variety of behavioral, physiological, and cognitive-neuroscience tools. His work has examined the neural underpinnings and musical attributes of musical groove, how people move along with the beat, how rhythmic movement can increase social connection, and how repetitive drumming can induce altered states of consciousness.
