Workshop: An introduction to corpus linguistics (for psycholinguists)

First, I will illustrate how to access corpora offline using a concordance software, and discuss what useful applications of the main corpus-linguistic output methods are (concordances, frequency lists, and collocation displays). We will use the freeware concordance tool AntConc for this hands-on part as it integrates the main functions of any concordance software. We will then turn to an overview of existing corpora and corpus-linguistic tools of particular interest to psycholinguists, and lastly discuss some examples of previous research that showcases how corpus-linguistic and psycholinguistic methods can be efficiently combined.
