Yuriko Oshima-Takane investigates the underlying mechanisms as well as environmental factors that together determine the course of early language development. Her recent research in this area includes cross-linguistic study on early word learning in children and effects of linguistic input and social interactions on the development of language and communication. In addition to her empirical studies, she conducts computer modelling experiments and network analysis to understand semantic representations and the developmental mechanisms in children.
