Guilherme D. Garcia is assistant professor in the Département de langues, linguistique et traduction at Université Laval. He is also associate editor at Second Language Research.
Dr. Garcia has a PhD in Linguistics from McGill University, where he also completed the Interdisciplinary Language Acquisition Program (LAP), which focuses on the scientific exploration of language acquisition from different perspectives (Communication Sciences and Disorders, Education, Linguistics, and Psychology). Guilherme D. Garcia’s research explores subtle phonological patterns and the interaction between the lexicon and the grammar. He is especially interested in lexical stress, syllable weight, patterns of language transfer, the role of lexical statistics, and the use of quantitative data analysis to uncover patterns that help us better assess representational and theoretical assumptions in phonology.
